Steve Fisher Leads 2011-12 Campaign
Rowan County United Way has announced Mr. Steve Fisher, president of F&M Bank, will serve as the 2011-12 Campaign Chairman. Mr. Fisher has been associated with the organization for
many years serving in different capacities. He was instrumental in establishing the Community Chest Fund, a memorial and honorarium program for the United Way.
“The generosity and giving spirit of F&M Bank and its employees, makes their workplace campaign one of the best in Rowan County,” said Jackie Harris, Resource Development and Marketing Director for Rowan County United Way. “We are very excited and grateful for Steve’s leadership. I look forward to working with him and his team.”
Mr. Fisher will be charged with developing a goal and recruiting a cabinet of individuals to assist him. "At F&M, giving back to the community where we work and live is a priority. Our long tradition of community involvement remains a great source of pride for our employees," said Fisher. "I look forward to leading United Way's fundraising efforts in 2011 and I am honored to represent F&M Bank as we continue our ongoing commitment to our citizens. Serving as Campaign Chairman will be a challenge in our current economic environment; however, I believe the health and human services provided by our sixteen member agencies are critical to the infrastructure of our community. Without your financial support for their programs through United Way, the developmentally disabled, youth, elderly and our own safety could be significantly reduced.”
Mr. Fisher currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Salisbury Community Foundation, the Salisbury Community Development Corporation and the Charlotte Regional Partnership. He is a member of the Salisbury Rotary Club and serves as an elder at First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Fisher lives in Salisbury with his wife, Robin, and three sons Max, Banks and Jack and is the son of Sue and Paul Fisher.
The campaign will kick off on September 2 in conjunction with Downtown Salisbury’s Friday Night Out. The BB&T Sunset Run 5K State Championship Race and the United Way Soapbox Derby Race will be a part of the kick-off festivities.
Gifts Divided Among 16 Agencies
Your contributions to the Rowan County United Way are far-reaching and help to develop the minds, bodies and spirits of those who need it most.
Each year, United Way helps thousands of caring donors channel their contributions to good causes. Their gifts are carefully divided among 16 agencies that have proven success in helping those who need it the most.
Whether it’s helping to send a Boy Scout to camp, assisting victims of domestic violence or making sure that the homebound get a hot meal each day from Meals on Wheels, your gift will go toward helping someone right here in the community. Rowan County United Way helps us all unite to make a powerful difference.
