Food Lion Recognized for Their GenerosityLast year United Way volunteers and staff were trying to figure out how they would deal with some of the issues facing our community that included layoffs, possible agency cuts, community needs and other concerns related to the quality of life for our citizens. But during those darker times a company stepped up to offer their help and gave a large gift to United Way. It was not given for a specific purpose but to use at the board’s discretion. The gift was $250,000. We are very grateful to Food Lion. Their generosity enabled us to implement a new grant process called Community Impact Grants.Community Impact Grant Recipients$75,000, Dental Care, Community Care Clinic
